Teacher Talk Tuesday

Unwrap the Gift of Rest, Relaxation, and Resources This Christmas Break

Good Morning Y’all,

Teachers, the time has come. The halls are quiet, the desks are empty, and the final bell of 2024 has rung. It’s Christmas Break! 🎄 And let me be the first to say: you’ve earned this. This semester has been a marathon of lesson plans, parent emails, staff meetings, and finding one more way to make geometry or grammar exciting. It’s been rewarding, yes, but also exhausting. So now, it’s time to hit pause.

As alwyas, if you find this info helpful, please share it with your teacher bestie!

Merry Christmas To All!

This break isn’t just a nice-to-have; it’s a must-have. Teaching is a calling, but even the most passionate educators need to step back, rest their bodies, and recharge their minds. Why? Because we’re not just teachers—we’re people. People who need to reconnect with what fuels us: family, friends, faith, and the little joys that make life magical.

The Christmas Break is a gift, not just for us but for those around us. So, let’s use this time to be present. Laugh over hot cocoa with your kids, get lost in a good book (one without a lesson plan attached), take a nap just because, and say “yes” to that game night or movie marathon. When we take care of ourselves, we show up better for everyone—including our students.

Remember, we don’t do this for fame or fortune (though wouldn’t that be nice?). We teach because we believe in the power of education. We believe in the lightbulb moments, the potential unlocked, and the lives changed. To keep doing that, we need to show up rested and renewed. The best gift we can give our students is a teacher who’s not running on empty.

Bottom Line Y’all…

Let’s wrap up this year with a little rest, a lot of joy, and a sprinkle of holiday magic. Take the break you deserve, teachers. Rest well, recharge, and remember why you do what you do. I am excited to see what the new year holds in store for each of us. So reset easy for a few weeks and then we can hit the ground running, ready to take on 2025 together!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,
~Mitch 🎄🎉
