☀️Summer Break Is the Perfect Time to Prioritize Your Health: 3 Steps for Teachers to Get Back on Track

Good Morning Y’all,

It comes as no suprise to any teacher anywhere… teaching can take a toll on your health. The bell-to-bell chaos, the grading marathons, the after-hours emails, the stress snacks between classes… it all adds up. But now, we’re in that golden window of opportunity: Summer Break. And unlike most professions, we as educators are blessed with a rare and valuable gift… time. Two to three months where the pace slows down, the demands lessen, and we finally get the chance to take a breath.

As alwyas, if you find this info helpful, please share it with your teacher bestie!

What if this summer, you took that breath and used it to reset, refocus, and recharge—not just for the classroom, but for your body, mind, and soul?

Here are 3 simple, powerful steps every teacher can take this summer to get healthy and stay healthy:

1. Start With Small, Sustainable Nutrition Swaps 🥗

You don’t need to go keto, paleo, vegan, or buy every superfood at Whole Foods. Start small. Replace soda with water. Swap chips for fruit. Prep your meals ahead of time, and don’t eat out of boredom or burnout. Learn to read labels. The goal isn’t to be perfect—it’s to be intentional.
👉 Action Step: Pick one meal a day to improve. Start there. Make a breakfast smoothie instead of skipping or grabbing a pastry. Simple wins build serious momentum.

2. Move Your Body Every Day—No Excuses 🏃‍♀️

You don’t have to train for a triathlon. You just have to move. Walking, swimming, lifting weights, biking, hiking, stretching, dancing in your living room… it all counts. Physical movement boosts energy, improves mental clarity, and kicks stress to the curb. And let’s face it, we need that mental clarity before the next school year rolls around.
👉 Action Step: Commit to 30 minutes of movement a day. Block it off like a meeting. Your body is your classroom now… show up for it.

3. Feed Your Soul With Personal Development 📚

Health isn’t just physical. This summer is also a great time to sharpen your mind and deepen your spirit. Read books that challenge you. Journal. Spend time with God. Listen to podcasts that inspire and teach. Take care of the inner you, because what’s happening inside you always shows up outside you.
👉 Action Step: Pick one area to grow in: spiritual, emotional, mental, or leadership, and set a growth goal. For example: “I will read one book on mindset this month” or “I’ll start my mornings with Scripture and prayer.”

The Bottom Line, Y’all:

This is our season to reset. To step out of the survival mode that school demands and into a season of healing, strength, and progress. Not for a number on a scale, not for Instagram likes, but for the kind of health that lets us live fully, lead boldly, and love others with energy and joy.🍎

We pour into students all year long. Now it’s our turn. This summer, don’t just rest, rebuild. We’ve got the time. We’ve got the tools. And we’ve got the fire in us to make it happen.❤️

Let’s make this the summer we show up for ourselves, so we can show up even stronger for our students when the doors open again in August. 💪

You've got this, Champ. Let’s go.
